Yesterday, was a gorgeous sunny warm day!! We went to visit Bella's Granny, who just two weeks ago moved into a nursing home. I think that's where I'd like to live when I'm 91 years old. What a place. They even get "free" morning and afternoon tea every day, and she doesn't have to pay for her laundry or personal soaps!!! And they have dollar Happy Hour on Tuesdays, and apparently the residents drink till they're tipsy!!! (But what's the rent like???) After lunch, Adam (Bella's brother) took most of us jet boating. Duane was in his glory!! We also saw a not-so-smart young adult drive his truck into the river, and sink (past the bottom of the windows) rather rapidly. We stayed (and rubber necked) and saw the truck being pulled out. I reckon that was an expensive dumb move on the kid's part!!! Tea (that's what they call supper here) at Bella's mum's; with family and friends in attendance. She had made roast chicken, as well as a ham (for Andrew, because she knows how much he likes ham). It's really too bad this family is so far away, because it would be great to get to know them better. I guess we'll just have to visit again!!!!

The weekend
Let's see...today is Monday (here; but in Wpg it's Sunday - you guys are all sleeping)!! Saturday was my birthday, and what a great day it was! It was a rainy, drizzly wet day. But they need it here. So we all went to the WOW gallery. The World of Wearable Art. What a
neat place. It started here in Nelson, and now takes entries from all over the world. They can use old or new materials, and are told to think outside the box. One was a costume made with over 20,000 of those plastic tabs from shirt collars. Gorgeous! The costume in this picture was made with about a gazillion Q tips over top of a fabric. And some very creative names that went along with the costumes. Check it out on the web. By then, of course, the Friesens were hungry; and if you know the Friesens.....well they get really grumpy when they are hungry. Andrew knew of this neat place called The Boat Shed, about a half hours drive. So off we went!
Right on the ocean, and in an actual old boat shed. Everyone ordered fish and chips. Fish caught right there in the ocean and freshly cooked. Jer and I also shared a combination fish platter - mussels, salmon, some white fish and a spread made with another fish. WOW!!! For supper Jerry made shrimp linguine, and Duane made several kinds of sushi. Very tasty!! And I got to sit and play with Owen the entire time! For dessert? Pavlova (Marliese eat your heart out!) . What a great meal. After Owen went to bed, we all watched an Australian movie, called The Castle. I recommend it - it was quite good!! A great day, but I do have to admit, I missed the snow. It didn't really feel like it should have been my birthday.
